1720年台にOakで作られたゲートレグテーブル
バーリーハウスのオーナーから修復の依頼をされたテーブルがありました。1720年頃に作られたこのオーク材のゲートレグ・テーブル（Gateleg table）です。脚の装飾はブラガンザ・フィート（Braganza Feet）と呼ばれる珍しいデザインです。（名前の由来はイングランド王チャールズ２世の王妃キャサリン・オブ・ブラガンザが出身地であるポルトガルから持ってきた家具にこのデザインがあったからと言われています。）
テーブルトップの色合いが不均一で黒い汚れやシミが目立つので、それらを取り除きあたたかい色合いに仕上げて欲しいという要望だったのでそのように仕上げました。
1720s Oak Gateleg table with Braganza Feet
The owner of Burghley House asked me to restore this table. This oak gateleg table, made around 1720, features a rare design called Braganza feet. (The name is said to come from furniture brought from Portugal by Catherine of Braganza, wife of King Charles II of England.)
The tabletop's colour was uneven, with noticeable dark stains and spots, so we removed these and finished it in a warmer colour, as requested.
