私たちのWebサイトの名前を初めて目にする方は、なぜ「THE FORGE ＝ 鍛冶屋」なのか、不思議に思われるかもしれません。
THE FORGE―それは、私にとって単なる場所の名前ではなく、イギリスの伝統と歴史の中で、一人の日本人である私の夢と情熱が現実となった、勲章のような場所です。

If you're seeing our website name for the first time, you might wonder why "THE FORGE" means "blacksmith."
To me, THE FORGE is more than just the name of a place; it's like a badge of honor, a place where my dreams and passion as a Japanese man have come true amid British tradition and history.
始まりは、歴史の館
『Burghley House』
物語は、イギリスが誇る壮麗なマナーハウス、Burghley House（バーリー・ハウス）にあります。私は長年にわたり、この歴史ある館内の修復工房で住み込みの仕事を任され、オーナーや学芸員の方々から高い評価と深い信頼をいただくことができました。
そして、独立の機が熟したとき、私に、Burghley Houseの敷地内にある、かつて鍛冶屋職人が働いていた古い工房跡を、私の新しい工房として使って良いと許可がおりたのです。
長らく使われず眠っていたその場所こそが、The Forge（鍛冶屋工房）でした。
情熱と懐かしさを繋ぐ名前
歴史あるイギリスのマナーハウスの中に、外国人である日本人の私が自分の修復工房を開くことができた。この事実は、私にとって何物にも代えがたい栄誉なことでした。私の技術と誠実さが認められたのではないかと思っています。
工房の住所は「The Forge, Burghley House」。
この言葉には、ゼロから夢を築き上げた強い情熱と、それが現実となった歓びが刻み込まれています。そして今、遠い日本から振り返るとき、それは深い懐かしさと、すべての始まりへの感謝が込められています。
このThe Forgeで培った、イギリスの伝統的なアンティーク修復の知識、長年の経験、そして沢山の美しいアンティークを見て触ってきた美的感性を活かし、修復士としてだけでなく、アンティークディーラーとしても活動しています。
セレクトされた一品一品には、歴史、昔の職人への敬意と、クオリティ、長く使われることで生まれた美を見い出しています。
イギリスで築き上げた経験と人脈を活かし、選び抜いた特別なアンティークの数々を、ここ日本で皆様にお届けします。THE FORGEは、情熱を込めてアンティークを蘇らせ、次の世代へと繋ぐ場所にしたいと思っています。
It all began with the historic mansion, "Burghley House."
The story begins at Burghley House, a magnificent manor house that is the pride of England. For many years, I was entrusted with living and working in the restoration workshop within this historic building, earning the high praise and deep trust of the owner and curators.
Then, when the time was ripe to go independent, I was given permission to use the remains of an old blacksmith's workshop on the Burghley House grounds as my new workshop.
That long-abandoned space became The Forge.
A name that connects passion and nostalgia.
The fact that I, a Japanese foreigner, was able to open my own restoration workshop in a historic English manor house was an irreplaceable honor for me. I believe it was a recognition of my skills and sincerity.

These words are engraved with the intense passion that went into building a dream from scratch, and the joy of seeing it become a reality. And now, as I look back from faraway Japan, they are filled with deep nostalgia and gratitude for where it all began.
Utilizing the knowledge of traditional British antique restoration, many years of experience, and the aesthetic sensibilities I've cultivated at The Forge, I work not only as a restorer but also as an antique dealer.
In each and every piece, I find respect for history and the artisans of the past, as well as quality and the beauty that comes from long-term use.
Utilizing the experience and connections I've built in the UK, I bring a carefully selected range of exceptional antiques to you here in Japan.
I want THE FORGE to be a place where antiques are passionately revived and passed on to the next generation.
バーリーハウスの修復工房『THE FORGE』
物語を宿す美しさ。アンティークがもたらす、心の癒やし。
アンティークの魅力は、単なる「古さ」に留まりません。
それは、遥か昔の歴史の中で培われ、「デザインのユニークさ、そして美しさ」として結晶化したもの。最高の「素材の質の高さ」、そして、惜しみなく注ぎ込まれた「職人の確かな技術と知識」が詰まっているからです。
そして何より、アンティークの最大の魅力は、その「個性」です。
長い間、様々な人の暮らしの中で使われることでついた微かな傷、味わい深いマーク、そして角が取れて丸くなった風合い。これらの痕跡こそが、アンティークならではの独特な雰囲気や個性を生み出しています。
私たちは、この姿を人間になぞらえて考えています。 人間もまた、長い人生の中でチャレンジを重ね、傷つき、角が取れていくことで、独特な個性を持つ、興味深く魅力的な存在へと成熟していきます。
アンティークに刻まれたパティナ（古艶）や傷は、まさにその「人生の証」であり、個性であり、美しさそのものです。
だからこそ私たちは、その歴史を丸ごと受け止め、この美しい個性を完全に取り除くことはいたしません。
アンティークを空間に置くだけで、不思議と雰囲気が和らぎ、心が満たされる。 その深い味わいは、慌ただしい日常に寄り添い、あなただけの空間に確かな「癒やしの効果」をもたらしてくれるでしょう。
The beauty that embodies a story. Antiques bring healing to the soul.
The appeal of antiques is more than just their age.
It is a unique and beautiful design, cultivated over a long history. It's crafted with the finest materials and the unwavering skill and knowledge of artisans.
But above all, the greatest appeal of antiques is their individuality.
The subtle scratches, tasteful marks, and rounded edges that come from being used in the lives of so many people over the years are what give antiques their distinctive atmosphere and personality.
We liken this appearance to a human being. Over the course of a long life, humans also face challenges, acquire blemishes, and become smoother, maturing into interesting and fascinating beings with unique personalities.
The patina and scratches on an antique are testament to its life, its individuality, and its beauty.
That's why we embrace their history in its entirety and never completely remove their beautiful individuality.

壮麗なるエリザベス朝の遺産：バーリー・ハウス
英国の大学を卒業後、私が17年住みながら修復工房「THE FORGE」が活動の拠点のあったバーリー・ハウス（Burghley House）は、イングランドに現存する16世紀の館の中でも、最も大きく、そして最も壮麗な邸宅の一つです。
この類まれな建築物は、エリザベス1世の時代に権力の頂点にあった政治家、ウィリアム・セシル卿（初代バーリー男爵、1520–1598）の野心とビジョンの証として、1555年から1587年にかけて建設されました。セシル卿は女王の主席顧問として絶大な権勢を誇り、バーリー・ハウスは女王への敬意を示すと同時に、自らの地位とセシル家の繁栄を後世に示すための「プロディジー・ハウス（驚異の館）」として設計されました。
現在もセシル家の子孫が居住しており、先代のLady Victoria、Mr. Leathamそして現在の当主であるMiranda RockとOrlando Rockには大変お世話になりました。
ハウスとガーデンの一部が春から秋にかけて一般公開されているので渡英の際には是非見学してみて下さい。
A magnificent Elizabethan heritage: Burghley House
After graduating from university in the UK, I lived in Burghley House for 17 years, where my restoration studio, THE FORGE, was based. It's one of the largest and most magnificent 16th-century mansions still standing in England.
This extraordinary structure was built between 1555 and 1587 as a testament to the ambition and vision of Sir William Cecil (1st Baron Burghley, 1520–1598), a statesman who was at the height of his power during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. As the Queen's chief advisor, Cecil wielded immense influence, and Burghley House was designed as a "Prodigy House" to honor the Queen and demonstrate his status and the prosperity of the Cecil family.
Descendants of the Cecil family still live here, and we've been extremely grateful to their late wife, Lady Victoria, Mr. Leatham, and the current heads of the family, Miranda Rock and Orlando Rock.
Part of the house and garden is open to the public from spring to autumn, so be sure to visit if you are in the UK.
